SmartCatch Server 3.0 is the core of the SmartCatch management system. It supports a unique distributed architecture, easily deployed on up to thousands of cameras across the enterprise. The SmartCatch Administration Console is the configuration application for SmartCatch Server, providing central management and control of all SmartCatch resources within a facility. The SmartCatch Administration Console remotely configures SmartCatch Analytics 3.0 behaviors, implements security policies, defines alert escalation processes, manages users and integrates third-party devices..
The SmartCatch Administration Console allows for adding SmartCatch Analytic behaviors to a camera in a few minutes. A simple wizard-driven interface allows users to assign a video source, select the needed behavior templates, draw the regions of interest and start the analytics. Authorized users can further customize and adjust settings. SmartCatch assigns cameras based on a location hierarchy and map corresponding to the physical site layout. Other devices, such as access control systems or RFID sensors are configured through the same process..
The SmartCatch Server allows the user to create complex rules for identifying security threats and managing responses to detected threats. Through a wizard-driven user interface, SmartCatch administrative users can implement any organizational security policy. SmartCatch allows for the creating specific rules for defining what constitutes an alert condition. For example, the system may be configured to only generate loitering alerts during specific hours of the night, and not during daylight hours. Custom escalations can use any kind of reasoning or decision making methodology to determine how, when or if alerts are escalated. For example, the system can be configured to escalate a particular alert only under conditions where a set number of alerts is generated of the same type within the past hour and if not acknowledged.
SmartCatch policies are not limited to information or data from SmartCatch analytics alone. By integrating third party systems and messages, the SmartCatch Server can use this information to more accurately determine whether a security policy has been violated. For example, a tailgating alert may be suppressed based on information received from an access control system the card holder is authorized to lead groups into the secure area. In this way, SmartCatch is used to fuse external events with video to determine the most appropriate course of action, even if the violation is not detected using video alone. This ability allows for “layering” of sensor technology for reliable detection in all situations and conditions. SmartCatch Server coordinates activities of all attached SmartCatch video processing units (VPU) or Intelligent Video Routers (IVR) and merges their event stream with more sensor streams to create a comprehensive, multi-sensor security network.
The Server also allows the user to configure how to disseminate alerts and define the escalation process for such alerts. Alerts can be sent to any specific individual or group based on the alert type, location or severity. The system can be configured for automatic escalations, should the initial recipient not respond. Alerts can be sent by email, SMS and received by wireless devices. Video clips can be sent to devices that support video playback including hand-held wireless devices. SmartCatch allows users to receive messages on almost all devices. The content of the alert message is adjusted based on device capabilities.
